I have enabled all of the redirects and it does not work google.com, translate.google.com, youtube.com, maps.google.com nor reddit.com(or old.reddit.com). Only one that works is Twitter.

I'm using an M1 Mac and I bought the extention via the App Store.

Please let me know how I can help sort out this issue :)

Privacy Redirect makes Safari on iOS 15.4 crash instantly on launch and when managing its settings through iOS Safari Settings.

How to reproduce:

• Update to 15.4 B1
• Enable Privacy Redirect Extension
• Try to launch

Redirects for Quora (Quetre), IMDB (LibremDB), and Fandom (BreezeWiki) were recently added to the LibRedirect extension. All three frontends are cleaner and faster to load than the sites they replace.

Could they get added to Privacy Redirect Safari as well?

It would be great if clicking on the extension icon in Safari would bring up the options rather than a window to "Open App", which then opens an additional window with the options.

I self host instances of various services that I’d like to redirect to. But these instances are exposed only over http, and the redirect assumes https. It is not possible to reach my instances: it seems that https is unconditionally prepended when redirecting.

(http is acceptable for me as my instances are not exposed to the internet and are reachable only via WireGuard tunneling, which provides the actual handshake/encryption.)

The upstream browser extension this project is forked from does not have this issue; I can configure http redirects there.

I'm blocking the domains this extension is supposed to redirect away from using DNS, which prevents it from working at all. When I add a domain like YouTube.com to a whitelist, the redirection works.

https://meet.google.com/* was for some reason redirected to OpenStreetMaps - I will do more testing later on but I've had to temporarily disable the add-on so I could join a meeting.

I was looking for exactly something like this but probably developers doesn’t quite understand the underlying technology of Safari. This app is anything but privacy friendly. It loads the website and then redirects you to is which still sends your data to the server.

Using iOS15.5 with all updates to this day (22 Jun 2022). Enabled redirection for all services in the iOS app. Enabled the extension from Preferences > Safari > Extensions Enabled it within Safari (Aa > "Privacy Redirect for Safari" shows a blue earth logo) Still, going to youtube.com or search for "youtube.com ACDC" in Duckduckgo still brings me to m.youtube.com/user/acdc Clicking on a video link gives me:

1. A pop up: Do you want to download "watch"?
2. Keeps the youtube.com window, with an empty screen (1/3 top is black, 2/3 low is white) and a circling icon in the middle

Important to note that despite working for Nitter, Teddit, ... Opening the app still tells me "Enable the extension in Safari Settings" (which is done).

Phone reboot did not change anything.

Am I doing something wrong, or is it a known issue?

The development of Privacy Redirect has stopped for several months. There is a fork of Privacy Redirect called Libredirect, which receives frequent updates and the developer is quite responsive. It has more redirect function and instances. Would you consider to switch to Libredirect as the base?

With the addition of TikTok and Imgur under the platform names, with instances available under the dropdown, it started making me think it would make more sense for all redirects main title to be the platform name?

I'm sure most new users or people trying to improve their privacy will be able to guess "Nitter -> Twitter," and "Teddit or Libreddit" -> "Reddit" (however, in this case, there's also an option of old.reddit.com). However a new user would probably see "Invidious" -> "???"

It seems like standardizing on the proprietary platform being redirected away from would both make it easier for new users, and allow all instances that you believe are a better alternative to be offered under the same setting.

Startpage works only very rarely (using Safari search/address bar) IMDB redirect - I couldn't get a single one

They work on MacOS. Maybe the problem is with m.sites?

I am trying to redirect YouTube links to open inside the Yattee app. That would require a URL like yattee://watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ as instructed here Privacy redirect for safari adds https in the beginning, so the app can't launch.

I recently installed this extension and I've noticed that the original URL does get loaded to the point that it would:

• create logs on the server side, and
• the site can drop cookies

The redirect then works but I would expect the original URL to be completely blocked. I use the same extension on my phone and iPad and the original site flashes briefly so I expect the problem exists there too.

I'm guessing that you're aware of this and it's a limitation of Safari's extension API but I wanted to confirm that, and ask if there are any work arounds?

I have tried:

• Adding reddit.com to my hosts file but Safari does not respect that anymore (seriously)
• Adding reddit.com to my ad blocker but then the redirect is blocked too

It would be great to have a menu to set up default settings for Invidious instances (for the ones on the website in the cog menu), especially because for some reason Invidious login isn't remembered when redirected from YouTube.

One time it redirects, the next time not. It'a completely random. I tried multiple combinations to debug this on my device, but with no success. It's definitely not other extensions, I uninstalled all of them. I do not employ any DNS blocking of any sort in my Network. I tried deleting all Safari data I could.

Did you experience anything like that in the past?
